BERKELEY - The Sept. 16 California-Portland State football game will kick off at 3:15 p.m. in Memorial Stadium and will be televised live on Comcast SportsNet, the University has announced.
The game is the seventh Cal contest set for television during the 2006 season thus far. A big part of Cal's television schedule will be three appearances on ABC's inaugural Saturday Night College Football package, as previously announced. Home games vs. Oregon (Oct. 7) and UCLA (Nov. 4), as well as a road contest at USC (Nov. 18), will air on ABC and start at 5 p.m.
In addition, the Bears open on ESPN when they play at Tennessee at 2:30 p.m. PT on Sept. 2, and host Minnesota on Sept. 9 at 4 p.m. with television coverage on TBS. The Big Game against Stanford, which will be broadcast by Fox Sports Net, will begin at noon.
Remaining kickoff times and television plans will be announced at a later date.
Cal is rated among the Top 10 teams in the country entering the 2006 campaign by virtually every preseason publication. The Bears are coming off an 8-4 season in 2005, which included a victory in the Las Vegas Bowl and a No. 25 national rating in both the Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today polls.
