Sophomore forward Jamal Boykin
On how he feels about Mike Montgomery being hired
"I feel really good about it. One of the most important things to say about him is that besides all the wins that he has, he hasn't had a player transfer in all of his years of coaching. That's really big. That's the ultimate respect for a coach to go through your whole career without having one player transfer."
On adding another high-profile coach to his collegiate experience (began his career at Duke with Mike Krzyzewski)
"It's been a good experience. I've had a rich experience by having some of these coaches coach me."
On Montgomery having NBA experience
"He broadened his horizon by going to the NBA. He experienced college basketball at the highest level, and then he went to the NBA and broadened his horizon. He coached guys at a whole other level. And, now he's back to college basketball. He's back in the Pac-10. It's a great thing. He's seen so much and can share that with you and help you get to that next level."
On the team's acceptance of Montgomery's philosophies
"We're all ready to work. We're all ready to be coached. We have a lot of coachable guys. We're all excited and ready to do what we need to do."
Sophomore guard Jerome Randle
On the team's reaction
"We all respect him. We're ready for him to bring his staff in and put us to work. We needed to experience something new, and that's what we're ready for."
On Montgomery's comment that there's no ceiling to how good the program can be
"It makes me feel great. It's all about how hard we work. If we go out and do what we're supposed to do - work hard and play hard - even in school, there's no ceiling as to how good we can be."
On all of the players returning
"I would like everyone to stay here and work hard just to show everyone that we are the team to beat. We can go out and be one of the top teams."
Junior forward Theo Robertson
On having a new coach
"I'm very excited. All of the guys are very eager to start getting to work. Coach Montgomery's background speaks for itself. We're looking forward to building that kind of success consistently at Cal. Everyone is willing to work. Everyone is relieved and very excited. We're looking forward to start getting ready to work for next season."
On Montgomery's past success at Stanford
"You think back to all of the great players he's had that have developed. Yesterday in our meeting we talked about some of the things he's done, having a No. 1 team, having been to the Final Four. Everyone is excited to get to work and try to recreate that same success at Cal."
