The California Golden Bear's Women's Basketball team will be streaming live action for their entire 2009-10 season as part of the Cal ISP Sports Network online through CalBears.com. The Cal ISP Sports Network will be providing the audio broadcasts for all games will be available free on the internet for fans to listen via the CalBears.com website.
Bay Area broadcasting veteran Dave Lewis has been hired to call the play-by-play for the game broadcasts. Lewis, the Sports Director at Metro Networks in San Francisco, has served as the evening sports anchor on KCBS 740-AM San Francisco since 1995. Lewis also spent 12 years working as the voice of Santa Clara Broncos men's basketball. He has also done play-by-play and halftime feature work for FSN television broadcasts as well as calling the action for the 2005 West Coast Conference Tournament semifinals and finals on Sirius Satellite Radio.
"This is a tremendously exciting opportunity for me to be welcomed into the Cal basketball family," said Lewis. "I am so grateful to be on the ground floor of a program that is on the rise at one of the most prestigious universities in the country. This is real blessing for me and my family and I can't wait to start working with Coach Boyle and the entire staff at Cal."
U.C. Berkeley's student radio station, KALX-FM, which has carried women's basketball games for the past 27 years, will continue to broadcast most home games and select road games this season.
In order to access the online streaming broadcasts, fans simply need to go to CalBears.com and follow the link on the schedule to listen to the internet audio broadcast.
The webcasts will begin with the season opener on Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009. Lewis will begin with a 15-minute pregame show at 4:45 p.m.
