OJAI. Calif-- The five members of the No. 10 California women's tennis team competing in the Pac-10 singles championships in Ojai had disappointing performances today. Cal failed to win any of its matches, all of which went to three sets, in either the Pac-10 championships or the Pac-10 invitational.

Four of Cal's players battled in the Pac-10 singles championships, which features competition among the top players in the conference. Amy Jensen lost to No. 29 Arizona State's Reka Cseresnyes, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4. Jensen is now 0-2 against Cseresnyes this season after losing to her in the Riviera All-American tournament on Oct. 23.

Arizona's Monique Allegre upset No. 38 Esther Knox, 5-7, 7-5, 6-3, to exact revenge on a three set loss to Knox on April 10 in dual match play.

No. 59 Claire Curran lost to UCLA's Kelly Rudolph, 6-1, 1-6, 6-4.

Stephanie Tibbits received a first round default after USC's Ditta Huber withdrew due to injury. Tibbits then played Washington State's Nagy Tunde and was pounded 6-0, 6-2 in the final two sets after winning the first set, 6-4.

Jenny Lee competed in the Pac-10 Invitational, a tournament comprised of players from the second tier of Pac-10 team rosters. Lee was ousted by Washington State's Andrea Reisz, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2.

The Bears will look to redeem themselves when doubles action begins tomorrow. Amanda Augustus, who opted out of the Ojai singles draw in order to play in a professional tournament in Los Angeles, will return to the team to compete with Jensen in the Pac-10 championship doubles competition. The 12th ranked duo is slated to meet No. 48 ASU's Celena McCouv and Alison Nash at 11 a.m. Augustus won the Pac-10 doubles title last year with Curran.

The No. 22 tandem of Knox and Anita Kurimay will play against WSU's Helene Frankland and Nagy Tunde at 12:30 p.m. and Curran and Jenny Lee will face ASU's Kerry Giardino and Fave Deverra at 2 p.m.
