CALIFORNIA HEAD COACH Ben Braun
On DeVon Hardin:
"The coaching staff and the teammates never doubted DeVon. I am proud of his effort, I am proud of his attitude. I am proud of his accepting the challenge. After the Oregon game, nobody was more disappointed than DeVon and that is a good sign. He bounced back today. He brought energy and set the tone."
Guys feel any energy about winning today"
"Absolutely, I think they understood that Oregon State plays hard. They played at a higher level, they took the lead, they played hard and our guys moved well with the ball today. Our guys played just as aggressively at Oregon State did. We couldn't accept anybody being hungrier. Both teams will always be hungry, hungry for a win, for the ball and hungry for playing at home."
On winning at Oregon State:
"You have to have urgency and our team is good at focusing. Sometimes being away from home gets you focused more. When you play a local game, or down the road, sometimes there are some challenges and distractions when playing in front of family and friends. We don't have a lot of fans here and so our focus here has been good."
OREGON STATE HEAD COACH JAY JOHN
On the game:
"Their four big guys are outstanding. We got the ball where we wanted; but, we didn't convert. We did get twenty offensive rebounds; but, with the shot chart that we had, with things in the lane, it lead to some run outs for them and they are a wonderful shooting team."
On the 18-2 run in the first half:
"There are flashes where we play well. What you saw were some jump shots that went in. There was a brief stretch there were I watched Josh (Tarver) and thought maybe today's the day. Nobody works harder at getting his shooting in control other than Josh (Tarver) and his brother."
On the shooting:
"We are not a good shooting team, at this point. That was the difference in the game in my view. We missed layups and missed some open jumpers."
