Cal Women's Water Polo Defeats Long Beach State, 11-6.

LONG BEACH, CA - The No. 3 ranked University of California women's water polo team (11-3, 3-1) powered past No. 10 ranked Long Beach State (9-6, 1-2), 11-6, Thursday in Long Beach.
The two teams were tied, 1-1, after the first period, but then Cal outscored Long Beach State, 4-0 in the second period to make the score, 5-1 at halftime. Both teams tallied two goals in the third period and then the Bears ran away with the match, outscoring the 49ers, 4-3, in the final period.
Junior Colette Glinkowski was the leading scorer for Cal with four goals, and junior Heather Petri added three goals for the Bears. Glinkowski was key in Cal's 4-0 run in the second period with two goals, and then scored on a penalty shot in the third period and also had a buzzer-beating shot to end the third quarter.
Cal goalie Evi Schueller had and outstanding match with 11 saves.
The Bears will next face No. 5 ranked San Diego State Mar. 12 at 4 p.m. in San Diego.
