Berkeley - Cal head coach Tom Holmoe announced today that wide receiver and special teams coach Dan Ferrigno has resigned his position to accept an assistant coaching job with USC.

Ferrigno, 46, has spent the past four seasons on the Cal coaching staff. He worked exclusively with tight ends and special teams his first three seasons at Cal. He was hired by former Cal head coach Steve Mariucci in 1996 and was retained by Tom Holmoe in 1997.

"Dan felt he had a chance to improve himself financially and we wish him the best," said Holmoe. "We have several options to consider in naming a replacement, but I'm not anticipating an immediate move. I feel very confident that our recruiting will not be impacted and consequently there's not any reason to rush our decision.
