Is the field at Kabam Field at California Memorial Stadium big enough to host a soccer match?
The walls of the stadium field allow enough length and width for a FIFA regulation-sized field, and it has been approved by the organizers and participating clubs.

Will you be serving alcohol at the game?
We have a temporary liquor license that will allow alcohol to be sold at this game. Although beer will be available at Memorial Stadium, it is sold regularly during other events on campus, including concerts at the Greek Theatre and Zellerbach Hall.

The following restrictions will apply:

  • No alcohol may be brought into California Memorial Stadium
  • All alcohol sales can be terminated at any time as deemed necessary by stadium management
  • No one under the age of 21 may purchase or consume beer
  • There is a two-drink limit per purchase at the concession stands
  • No alcoholic beverages may leave the stadium with exiting guests

Will you consider allowing alcohol at the stadium concession stands for Cal football games?
No, we have no intention of changing our current practices.

Why did you decide to host this game?
We are always looking for innovative ways to strengthen the financing model for our new facilities. The opportunity to host an international soccer match again presented itself and when we considered the positive economic impact an event of this magnitude could have on the University, the City of Berkeley and our greater Bay Area community in the summer months, when business tends to be slower, and we collectively determined this was a great partnership opportunity.

Are other events planned for Kabam Field at California Memorial Stadium?
Should the right opportunity present itself, we will consider hosting similar events at Memorial Stadium in the future. Opportunities are carefully evaluated on a case-by-case basis to ensure they fit with the values of our campus community and support academic and athletic excellence at Berkeley. Both the campus administration and the athletic department have a strong interest in making Memorial Stadium a multi-use facility with academic, athletic and campus community activities year round.
