2006: A steady starter on Cal's defensive front, starting all but the Minnesota game (injured) ... voted the team's Most Improved Defensive Lineman ... finished the season with 23 tackles (seven solo) ... recovered a fumble against Oregon ... registered a big sack against Oregon State for a loss of seven yards ... credited with four tackles, including 1.5 tackles for loss (three yards) against UCLA ... broke up a pass against Arizona State.

2005: A sturdy player in the middle of the Bear defensive line ... earned the starting assignment against Illinois, New Mexico State, Stanford and BYU, and played in every game ... ended the season with 17 tackles ... recovered a fumble in the opener against Sacramento State ... had a big sack against Washington State late in the fourth period to help secure the victory against the Cougars ... also notched a quarterback sack against USC and was credited with 1.5 sacks against Stanford ... credited with four solo tackles against Oregon State.

2004: Did not play while fulfilling NCAA transfer guidelines after arriving in Berkeley from the University of Hawaii.

2003: Played in nine games for Hawaii, registering 10 tackles, including four for loss (14 yards) and two sacks (11 yards).

2002: As a true freshman, saw action in 10 games for the Warriors and had 10 tackles ... also returned an interception 32 yards ... scored a touchdown in his first collegiate game.

High School: Named first team all-state and all-league as a junior at Kamehameha HS ... also a second team all-league choice as a junior ... in addition, was a member of his prep track and field squad.

Personal: His uncle, Chris Fuamatu-Ma'afala, played in the NFL for seven years ... enjoys spending time with his family, including his son, Levi ... first name is Albert, but goes by the nickname, Abu ... parents are Albert Ma'afala and Rayna Fitzsimmons ... born Aug. 21, 1984 ...
