Earned varsity letters as a fullback and a quarterback during his Cal career ... returned to quarterback and started the final two games of the 2005 season, leading the Bears to a pair of wins.

2006: Saw action in two games ... completed seven-of-10 passes for 66 yards in the win over Portland State ... did not throw a pass in the Holiday Bowl win over Texas A&M, but directed the Bear offense to its final touchdown.

2005: Played in four games off the bench before earning the start against Stanford and in the bowl game against Brigham Young ... led Cal to a 27-3 Big Game win over Stanford and a 35-28 victory over the Cougars ... ended the season by completing 61.5 percent of his passes with four TDs and two interceptions ... was 10-of-18 for 125 yards and a touchdown against the Cardinal ... tossed a 56-yard touchdown pass to DeSean Jackson in the first period of that game ... ran the ball eight times for 36 yards against Stanford, including a season-long, 21-yard run ... was mistake-free in the bowl game, completing 16 of his 23 pass attempts for 228 yards and two touchdown passes ... came off the bench and completed all four of his passes for 34 yards and led Cal to its only touchdown against USC ... played but did not attempt a pass against Washington and was 2-for-7 with a 52-yard touchdown pass against Sacramento State.

High School: Ranked as one of the top five quarterbacks in New Jersey ... completed 68 percent of his passes (86-of-126) for 1,420 yards and 11 touchdowns with only four interceptions in 2001 ... also rushed for more than 600 yards and six TDs as a senior, despite being used sparingly in the first four games due to injury ... voted first team all-county and all-league ... also named North Jersey Player of the Year by the Bergen Record and Bergen County Offensive Player of the Year by the Newark Star Ledger ... in addition, selected first team all-state by the Star Ledger ... earned Madison Square Garden Network's player of the week in back-to-back weeks when he engineered upset victories over Bergen Catholic (No. 1 in state) and St. Joe's of Montvale (10th in nation) ... one of 22 athletes selected for MSG/Chase/Downtown Athletic Club High School Heisman All-Star team for Tri-State area ... as junior, completed 55.1 percent of his passes (75-of-136) for 1,730 yards and 16 touchdowns with only three interceptions ... rushed for 450 yards and nine TDs that season, earning first team all-county and all-league honors, as well as second team all-state ... also a three-year starting catcher on the high school baseball team.
