AFTER CAL: Selected by the Carolina Panthers in the seventh round (No. 216 overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft ... the second Cal safety drafted in as many years ... the first Cal player to ever be drafted by Carolina ... on being selected in the NFL Draft - "I'm honored to be picked by the Panthers. They're a fairly young franchise, but they're up-and-coming and on the rise. They've had success in the past going to the Super Bowl, and they have plenty of good players on their team. I'm just really excited about getting a chance to go and play there." ... posted a solid all-around performance at Cal's 2012 Pro Day with 22 bench press reps of 225 pounds that would have tied for first among safeties at the 2012 NFL Combine, a 4.51 40-yard dash and 38-inch vertical leap that would have checked in second at the combine at his position, and a 10' 7" broad jump that would have tied for second ... on 2012 Cal Pro Day - "A lot of people tend to lose focus and lose sight of the goal they're trying to reach, which is making it into the NFL. 2011 (Game-By-Game Stats) An honorable mention All-Pac-12 choice after starting all 13 games at safety and ranking fourth on the team with 71 tackles, while adding team-high-tying two interceptions that he returned for 29 yards and two fumble recoveries, 2.5 tackles for loss (-7 yards), five pass breakups and a forced fumble ... all of his season totals were career highs, with the pair of fumble recoveries equaling his 2009 total ... his 0.15 interceptions per game ranked tied for 24th in the Pac-12 ... posted a career-high 11 tackles, 1.0 tackle for loss (-4 yards) and a fumble recovery at UCLA ... had eight tackles in the Holiday Bowl vs. Texas and seven against USC ... registered five tackles on four occasions vs. Fresno State (1.0 TFL, -1 yard), at Colorado (1 PBU), at Stanford (1 PBU), and at Arizona State in the regular-season finale when he also had a forced fumble and a pass breakup ... had four tackles at Washington and at Oregon State, also posting an interception, a career-high two pass breakups and 0.5 tackles for loss (-2 yards) against the Beavers ... had at least three tackles in all 13 games, including a trio of stops in four separate contests vs. Presbyterian, at Oregon when he also had an interception and 29-yard return just before halftime, and vs. Utah when he added a fumble recovery.

2010 (Game-By-Game Stats): Played in all 12 games, including his first career start at Washington State ... posted 21 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss (-17 yards), 2.0 sacks (-17 yards) and two pass breakups ... recorded a career-high five tackles (all solo) and a career-high-tying one pass breakup at Arizona ... had three tackles vs. UC Davis and Washington; two vs. Colorado, vs. UCLA, at USC and at Washington State; and one vs. Arizona State and Oregon ... recorded his first two career sacks in back-to-back games at USC (-9 yards) and vs. Arizona State (-8 yards), while his two pass breakups came in back-to-back contests at Arizona and vs. UCLA.

2009 (Game-By-Game Stats): Played in 12 of the team's 13 games off the bench, recording 14 tackles and recovering two fumbles to rank tied for seventh in the Pac-10 with an average of 0.17 fumbles recovered per game ... recorded a season-best three tackles in the Big Game at Stanford, while picking up two in each of the first three contests vs. Maryland, vs. Eastern Washington and at Minnesota, and again later in the campaign vs. Washington State ... added a single tackle at UCLA, at Washington and in the Poinsettia Bowl vs. Utah ... fumble recoveries came against Maryland and at Oregon with both occurring on opponent kick returns, leading to a touchdown vs. the Terrapins and a field goal against the Ducks.
