Cal To Host Outdoor Season Opener

BERKELEY — Prior to the culmination of indoor season at the 2016 NCAA Championships, the California track and field program will kick off its Outdoor season on Saturday, March 5 by hosting the California Outdoor Opener.

The Outdoor Opener will begin at 9 a.m. with the Women's Hammer leading the Field Events. The running events are scheduled for a 1 p.m. start with the Women's 4x100 Meter Relay.

LAST TIME OUT

Cal produced several strong performances at last weekend's MPSF Indoor Championships in Seattle. The Bears set two new school records (Eugene Hamilton III in the 800 Meters and Peter Simon in the Shot Put) and won two events (Women's Distance Medley Relay & Women's Triple Jump) over the course of the two-day event.

NCAA QUALIFIERS

Track currently has three student-athletes qualified for next week's NCAA Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Ala. (March 11-12): Bethan Knights in the Women's Mile; Peter Simon in the Men's Shot Put; and Isabella Marten in the Women's Triple Jump
