BOULDER, Colo. – Marthe Wold became the first California freshman to earn a top 10 finish at the Pac-12 Women's Golf Championships since 2008 as competition concluded Wednesday at the conference tournament at the par-71 Boulder Country Club.

Wold finished ninth individually with an even 71-72-70=213, become the first Golden Bear to not only lead the team as a freshman but finish in the top 10 since Pia Halbig took 10th with a 74-76-73=223 at the 2008 Pac-10 Championships that were held in Palos Verdes, Calif.

Wold had her team-leading 10th hole at or under par Wednesday after finishing 1-under in the final round and was one of just two freshman this weekend to hit under par in the final round – the other being Alivia Brown of Washington State who also carded a 70 Wednesday.

Arizona won the team title with a 292-282-279=853 (+1) followed by Oregon (858, +6) and Washington (861, +9) in second and third, respectively. The Golden Bears finished 10th as a team with a 297-299-292=888 (+36).

Wold final round at the tournament included a final nine holes where she went 3-under to secure a top 10 placement. Starting on the 10th tee, Wold was 2-over at the turn, but the freshman hit birdies on the 2nd, 3rd and 5th holes to go with six holes at par to cap a strong front nine for a 70 score.

Sophomore Lucia Gutierrez placed 25th overall with a 75-74-72=221 (+8), giving her a top 25 finish at the conference tournament for a second consecutive season. After starting the day with two consecutive birdies, Gutierrez ended the front nine with nine straight pars to finish the round and improve her score for the third consecutive day.

Junior Carly Childs also improved her score with each round, shooting a 73 Wednesday to jump to 45th on the individual leaderboard with an 81-75-73=229 (+16). Childs hit two birdies Wednesday to lead her effort.

Classmate Pauline Loulier finished 48th in her first appearance at the Pac-12 Women's Golf Championships with a 76-78-77=231 (+18), and Hannah Suh was two places behind in 50th with a 75-80-79=234 (+21).
