Two Bears Wrap up Competition at Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas – The California Golden Bears had two student-athletes in action this weekend at the Nike Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas. On Friday afternoon, junior Jonte Grant placed 10th in the men’s university A triple jump with his best leap at a distance of 48-11.50 (14.92m). On Saturday, Walt Jones IV earned a third place finish, leaping a distance of 25-4.50 (7.73m) in the men’s university A long jump. Jones, a freshman for the outdoor campaign, tied his personal best on Saturday, matching his performance on March 7 at the Cal Outdoor Opener.

“I had a great experience jumping at the Texas Relays in a competitive long jump field,” Jones said on Saturday from Austin. “I look forward to making some improvements and bettering my performances as the season continues.”

The Golden Bears will be back in action next week and will be hosting both Virginia and Michigan in a tri-meet at Edwards Stadium on Saturday.
