No. 4 Bears Beat No. 9 Loyola Marymount, 9-5

LOS ANGELES – Freshmen Roser Tarrago and Anna Illes each scored four goals to lead the No. 4 Cal women’s water polo team to a 9-5 victory over No. 9 Loyola Marymount on Sunday afternoon.

Tarrago and Illes combined to score the Bears’ first five goals as Cal raced out to a 6-0 lead with 5:24 remaining in the third quarter. Freshman Emily Loughlin also scored for the Bears (15-4).

Freshman goalie Madeline Trabucco made six saves for the Bears, who played their third straight game without MPSF leading scorer Dora Antal. Junior starter Tiera Schroeder also missed her third consecutive match and sophomore Pippa Saunders sat out for the second game in a row.

Cal will return to action next Sunday against Cal State Bakersfield at 1 p.m. at Spieker Aquatics Complex.
