IRVINE, Calif. – Freshman Roser Tarrago scored two goals in each game Sunday but the No. 4 Cal women’s water polo team dropped a pair of matches to finish fourth at the UC Irvine Tournament.
The Bears (13-3) lost to No. 1 USC in the semifinals, with Tarrago and fellow freshman Dora Antal each finding the back of the net twice. Cal then fell to No. 2 Stanford in the Third Place Game, with Tarrago and freshman Anna Illes registering two goals.
Antal and Illes each finished the day with three goals total. Cal goalie Madeline Trabucco made four saves in each match.
The Bears are now off until March 8, when they open Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play with a home game against No. 11 San Jose State.
