TUCSON, Ariz.– Reshanda Gray had her second double-double of the weekend and Brittany Boyd went 15-of-17 from the free throw line to lead No. 19 California to a 79-64 win at Arizona Monday morning at the McKale Center.
Gray scored 20 points to go with 12 rebounds – two shy of her career-high – while Boyd scored 24 points along with five rebounds, seven assists and four steals in another balanced effort by the Wooden Award and Nancy Lieberman Award candidate.
California led by as many as 15 points in the game to move to 5-1 in conference play and 13-4 overall. Arizona had four players hit double-figures scoring but could not match the Golden Bears and fell to 4-13 overall (0-6 Pac-12).
The Golden Bears led the entire game, beginning with a Gray layup and free throw to get the action started Monday. Nine Bears scored in the game, and Boyd was the only California player to see more than 30 minutes of action as the Bears won their 14th consecutive over the Wildcats.
California’s four-game road trip comes to an end as the Bears return to Haas Pavilion to take on USC Friday (Jan. 24) night at 6 p.m. That game will be broadcast live on the Pac-12 Networks
