BERKELEY – Five California women’s gymnasts were recognized as Scholastic All-Americans, the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches (NACGC) announced last week.

The five Golden Bears selected for their academic performance in 2012-13 are: seniors Alicia Asturias (psychology) and Dallas Crawford (American studies), sophomore Serena Leong (engineering) and 2013 graduates Carol Chang (integrative biology) and Arla Rosenzweig (cognitive science). The Cal women’s gymnastics team was also recognized for carrying a 3.2736 team GPA.

The NACGC recognizes the academic accomplishments of collegiate gymnastics teams each season with a Scholastic All-America honor for gymnasts with a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or a 3.50 GPA for the preceding academic year.

Asturias and Rosenzweig were also selected to the NACGC Scholastic All-America team in 2012.
