Cal Football Gameday Coverage

KGO 810 AM, the 50,000-watt station based in San Francisco is entering its 43rd season as the flagship station of California football, having carried the Golden Bears since 1974. Led by play-by-play announcer Joe Starkey, KGO's signal, along with the other affiliates within the Cal IMG Sports Network, provides statewide coverage of Cal football.

Toyota Tailgate Show

Each KGO broadcast begins 60 minutes before kickoff, with the program airing live from outside California Memorial for all home games. Hosts Todd McKim and Mike Pawlawski preview the day’s game, which includes interviews and analysis of the Bears and their opponent.

In the Booth

Joe Starkey, the legendary voice of the Golden Bears, is in his 42nd season with the Cal football broadcast team in 2015. In 2010, Starkey received the Chris Schenkel Award from the National Football Foundation for his distinguished career broadcasting college football.

He is joined in the booth by former Cal quarterback Mike Pawlawski, who is in the fifth season as part of the Cal football broadcast team. A member of the Cal Athletic Hall of Fame, Pawlawski was the Pac-10 Co-Offensive Player of the Year in 1991.

Now in his 12th season on the broadcast team, Todd McKim provides reports and analysis from the sidelines. He also serves as host of the weekly Inside the Locker Room program and is an analyst and play-by-play announcer for Cal men’s basketball games.

Postgame Show

After all the action, the 60-minute postgame show hosted by Lee Grosscup and Hal Ramey airs live from the FIVE Restaurant in the Hotel Shattuck Plaza (2086 Allston Way) and features a reaction from the Bears' locker room followed by a breakdown of the game
