BERKELEY – Two of Cal coach Todd Mulzet’s men’s divers – junior Thomas Selby and sophomore Peter Cyr – will be representing the Golden Bears when they compete at the AT&T National Diving Championships, starting Wednesday (Aug. 14) at the University of Iowa Campus Recreation and Wellness Center in Iowa City, Iowa.
Selby will be competing in the 10-meter platform and the three-meter synchronized event, while Cyr will be diving in the three-meter and the three-meter synchronized events. Preliminary heats and semifinals for the platform are scheduled for Wednesday, with the final on Saturday (Aug. 17). The three-meter synchronized event will have its prelims on Friday (Aug. 16) and the finals on Saturday.
The two Cal divers qualified for the national championships via the USA Diving National Preliminary Zone D Championships held from July 19-21 in Tucson, Ariz. The three-meter synchronized team of Selby and Cyr had placed third in the Zone D championships with a score of 282.48. On the platform, Selby was fifth with a mark of 317.15, while Cyr placed fifth on the three-meter board with a score of 332.35, in Tucson.
