Muhammad is a national honors candidate after a strong true freshman season in 2013 when he led Cal with 445 rushing yards, four rushing touchdowns, 6.0 yards per rush (best among regulars) and 1,638 all-purpose yards, as well as school records of 46 kick returns and 1,006 kick return yards. Muhammad earned 2013 third-team Freshman All-American honors by Athlon and was a third-team All-Pac-12 pick of College Sports Madness as a kick returner for his efforts. He proved he is a home run threat with both Cal’s longest run (73 yards for a touchdown at Washington) and kick return (52 yards vs. Oregon State) of the season, as well as a 62-yard reception against Portland State and a 55-yard TD run at Colorado. Muhammad was limited during 2014 spring practices while participating for the Golden Bears’ track and field team and heads into the 2014 campaign listed at No. 2 on the team’s running back depth chart behind Daniel Lasco.

► A member of the Cal track & field team as a 2014 freshman, making his indoor debut on January 24 and starting his outdoor career on March 8
► Highlights included placing second in both the 100-meters at the Big Meet in Berkeley and recording a personal-record time of 21.27 in the 200-meters, while also helping the Bears win the 4x100-meter relay
► Set a new PR in the 100-meters at the Mt. Sac Relays with a time of 10.55
► Anchored a 4x100-meter relay team in qualifying at the Pac-12 Championship that recorded Cal’s fastest time since 1987 (39.91) and the finals teams that saw Cal finish third (40.13) as well as a team that qualified 12th for the NCAA Championships, equaling the 39.91 mark

► Finished his prep football career with 3,397 rushing yards and 44 touchdowns on the ground over 559 carries, while adding 48 receptions for 704 yards and four TD catches to score a total of 288 points
