Costa Rica Blog Post #2

The Cal women's soccer team covered its match with the Costa Rica U-20s, rain, rain and more rain, as well as a long bus ride in its latest blog post about the trip to Costa Rica:
Today we played the U-20 Costa Rican national team. We knew going in that it was going to be a tough game and we were going to have to do our best to shake off our soreness from the previous game and focus in for the next match. On the way to the game, we did our usual pre-game ritual of dancing and singing loudly on the bus.
It wasn't till we got there that it started raining, and by raining we mean torrential downpour. Not to mention the loud cracks of thunder and bright flashes of lightening; it was something us California girls weren't used to. We stayed under a tin enclosure waiting hesitantly to warm up and for our opponent to arrive. Eventually they did, and the game began.
The rain kept on, but we quickly took the lead. Our style of play was much different from the Costa Ricans. They put up a good fight, but in the end, the Golden Bears prevailed. We won the game 5-0 with goals from Kaitlyn Fitzpatrick, Rachel Mercik, Samantha Witteman and others.
We had an early wake-up call the next morning because we were headed to the rainforest!!! A place that's foreign to most of the Bears; the humidity, lush green plants and even the bugs were intriguing to all of us. The five-hour bus ride, on the other hand, was quite the opposite. Although we made souvenir stops on the way, our bus-ride games like "contact," "boom" and "guess who" could not dull our restlessness and excitement to get there. Eventually we did, and the Cal Bears were ready to take on all the adventures that lay ahead.
