BERKELEY - California placed nine student-athletes on the 2013 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation All-Academic Team, the conference announced on Thursday. The Golden Bears placed a program-high 14 players on the 2007 MPSF All-Academic Team and had 12 on the conference's 2008 and 2012 academic squads.
Three seniors (attacker Melissa Humphrey, defender Sarah Milik and attacker Alexa Rozelle) three juniors (goalkeeper Megan McGinnis, midfielder Amelia Burke and defender Marissa O'Meally) and three sophomores (attackers Michaela Guerrera and Brittany Ward, and midfielder Gaby Christman) earned the academic honors from the MPSF.
Six of the Bears - Humphrey, Milik, Rozelle, O'Meally, Burke, McGinnis - were named to the conference's all-academic team for the second straight season.
The MPSF awarded academic honors based on the following criteria:
1. 3.00 or better cumulative grade-point average.
2. Student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically.
3. Student-athlete must have completed one full academic year at the institution prior to the season for which the award is being received.
4. Student-athlete must have competed in fifty percent or more of the institution's competition in his or her respective sport.
