CAL CAREER (Career Stats):

2013: Listed as an “Impact Player” by Sporting News prior to the season … returned to practice in the spring after being out of action for over a year with an injury suffered in the final regular-season game of the 2011 campaign at Arizona State … had one tackle in the spring game … listed as the starter at left cornerback on the preseason depth chart.

2012: Redshirted … did not play during either the regular season or the spring due to injury.

2011 (Game-by-Game Stats): Played in 11 games with two starts as he replaced injured starting cornerback Marc Anthony in the opening lineup against USC and Utah … recorded 24 tackles, 1.0 tackle for loss (-5 yards), one interception that he returned eight yards, three passes defended, two pass breakups and one fumble recovery … posted a career-high nine tackles, a career-high-tying 0.5 tackles for loss (-2 yards) and the lone fumble recovery of his career in his first career start vs. USC … primarily covered Robert Woods against the Trojans and held the consensus first-team All-American to five catches for 36 receiving yards, his second lowest single-game totals of the season in both categories … had his interception, three tackles and a pass breakup in his other start vs. Utah … posted four tackles and a career-high-tying 0.5 tackles for loss (career-high -3 yards) against Presbyterian … had two tackles and a pass breakup at Oregon in a game in which he replaced Anthony after the Bears’ starter was injured … also had two tackles in each of the final three regular-season games vs. Oregon State, at Stanford and at Arizona State before suffering a season-ending injury against the Sun Devils … named the No. 18 defensive back recruit in the nation and the No. 31 overall Pac-12 recruit by Athlon prior to the season, as well as the No. 38 freshman defensive back according to Phil Steele and Cal’s No. 3 recruit by Sporting News.

Prepstar had him as the No. 8 player overall in California/Hawaii/Nevada ... a two-time All-State player in California on both offense and defense, earning the honor in both his 2011 junior and 2012 senior campaigns, with additional recognition on the prestigious Long Beach Press-Telegram Best in the West team in his final prep season ... led the Avocado League's East Division in both receiving and interceptions as a senior when his club posted a 12-1 overall mark and 3-1 conference record on the way to a San Diego Section title ... the Defensive MVP of his conference and section, as well as the North County Player and Defensive Player of the Year as a senior … also an All-County and All-Section selection, and KUSI Silver Pigskin San Diego Player of the Year during his senior season when he recorded 48 tackles, four interceptions that he returned 59 yards and for a touchdown, nine pass breakups and a forced fumble ... added 58 catches for 1,317 yards receiving and 13 touchdown catches as a senior on offense … had 35 receptions on offense, while recording a pair of interceptions on defense and an amazing six blocked punts during his junior season when his squad won the Palomar League title, posted a 10-3 overall mark and advanced to the Division I section title game ... finished with career prep totals of 111 tackles and five interceptions on defense, and 100 receptions for 2,358 yards and 19 TDs on offense … also participated in track and field, winning one section title in the triple jump as a 2009 junior, as well as league crowns in both the long jump and triple jump during his 2008 sophomore and 2009 junior campaigns … set a school record in the triple jump (49’ 3”) … a member of the North County All-Academic team.”
