Jefferson is Cal’s active career leader in tackles (169), tackle for loss yards (92), sacks (6.5) and sack yards (92) as well as the Golden Bears’ most experienced starter on the defensive side of the ball with 27 starts among his 31 games played. He has produced three consecutive solid seasons to post his career totals including a career-high 64 tackles as a 2013 sophomore, while adding a career-high-tying 6.5 tackles for loss during both his sophomore and 2014 junior campaigns in addition to combining for 5.0 sacks over the last two seasons. Jefferson came up with several big plays in terms of both significance and yardage as a junior, helping Cal to win at Northwestern with a sack and interception on the Wildcats’ final drive and vs. Colorado with an assisted tackle for loss on the Buffaloes’ final play of the second overtime on fourth-and-goal from the Cal one-yardline. He also had the longest sack of his career with a 16-yarder vs. BYU and the most tackle for loss yards with 20 at USC as he led Cal for the season in both tackle for loss (52) and sack (27) yards.
