Pierre Ingram
Position: Running Backs
Experience: 1 Year

Pierre Ingram is in his first season as the running backs coach at Cal in 2013 after being hired on December 14, 2012. Ingram served in the same role for Cal head coach Sonny Dykes at Louisiana Tech the last three seasons when Dykes' was the Bulldogs' head coach, including in 2012 when Louisiana Tech posted a 9-3 record and led the nation in scoring offense and total offense by averaging 51.50 points and 577.92 yards of total offense per game.

"Pierre Ingram is one of the best young coaches in the nation," Dykes said upon Ingram’s hiring. "He is a talented person with a terrific future ahead of him and will be a tremendous asset to our football program. We're thrilled he's joining our staff at Cal."

"This is a great opportunity for me," Ingram said. "I'm thankful that coach Dykes has hired me on his staff at Cal along with some of the other guys from our successful offense at Louisiana Tech. Cal is a program with great tradition, and the coaching staff he's bringing in is going to add to that as well as bring some spark and energy to move forward in the Pac-12."

Ingram, who was named the 2012 Western Athletic Conference Recruiter of the Year by ESPN.com coached running Kenneth Dixon, who was tabbed the WAC Freshman of the Year and earned Freshman All-American honors after breaking Marshall Faulk's NCAA freshman records for rushing touchdowns (27), total touchdowns (28) and points (168). Dixon led the country in scoring with an average of 14.00 points per game while totaling 1,194 yards on 200 carries. He was also second in the WAC and 33rd nationally in rushing with an average of 106.42 yards per game. Capital One Academic All-America® first teamer Ray Holley, a graduate student pursing a degree in counseling with a 3.50 GPA, added 740 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground over 142 rushes.

In addition to leading the country in scoring offense and total offense with an offense that posted the fifth-highest per-game scoring average ever by a team in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), Louisiana Tech was among the NCAA's top 20 in 2012 in passing offense (3rd, 350.75 ypg), fewest sacks allowed (7th, 0.83 spg), turnover margin (10th, +1.08 per game) and rushing offense (18th, 227.17 ypg). The Bulldogs scored more than 40 points in 11 of 12 games and over 50 points on eight occasions.

In his second season guiding the Louisiana Tech running backs in 2011, Ingram witnessed an unlikely story unfold as walk-on Hunter Lee, who did not receive a single FBS scholarship offer, stepped up amid injuries and ran for 650 yards on 135 attempts as a true freshman. The ground game churned out 1,901 yards for an offense that averaged 394.62 yards per game as the team won its final seven regular-season contests on its way to a WAC championship and berth in the Poinsettia Bowl.

In his first season at Tech in 2010, Ingram guided Lennon Creer's 1,181-yard rushing campaign that included a 252-yard effort against San Jose State – the seventh-most rushing yards in a single game in Tech history – among five 100-yard rushing performances over his last seven contests. Among those was a 149-yard rushing effort at No. 2 Boise State, more yards than 12 of Boise's 13 opponents recorded against the Broncos as a team during 2010.

Ingram joined the Bulldogs after winning the 2009 Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) national championship at Villanova, where he coached the tight ends as an offensive assistant.

Prior to joining the Villanova staff for the 2009 season, Ingram served as the wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator at Texas A&M-Commerce during the spring of 2009. Before his short stint at Texas A&M Commerce, he was the assistant wide receivers coach at Cortland State for two campaigns, where he helped the team to a combined 20-5 mark. The 2007 squad captured the ECAC Division III Northeast Bowl, while the 2008 team reached the NCAA Division III quarterfinal round for the first time in school history. Zacc Guaragno posted 1,053 receiving yards under Ingram in 2008 to become the second wide receiver in school history to record a 1,000-yard receiving season.

Ingram is a 2006 graduate of Middle Tennessee with a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts, where he was a four-year letterwinner in football as a wide receiver and garnered the team's Most Dependable Receiver Award in his final season as a senior in 2006 when the Blue Raiders played in the Motor City Bowl. He is currently pursuing a master's of science degree in sport management from Cortland State.

Ingram is married to the former Dani Maye. The couple's daughter, Berkley, was born the night Louisiana Tech defeated San Jose State on October 29, 2011. Ingram paced the sidelines during the game, coaching the backs to 260 yards of rushing offense, and then joined Dani in time for the birth of their daughter.
