Shaw had the advantage of learning the Cal men’s golf culture as a true freshman during arguably the best season in the history of the sport at the collegiate level in 2012-13 when he was named the team’s Co-Most Improved Player. He has become one of the most improved players in school history as evidenced by his performance in the fall of 2014 when he won his first collegiate event by sharing individual medalist honors at the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate and tied for second at the Windon Memorial. Shaw has also made a huge jump in the world amateur rankings, moving from outside the top 2000 prior to the beginning of the summer of 2014 to his current No. 195 spot in the R&A rankings.
