CAL CAREER: First-team All-American … Cal’s first ever NCAA individual medalist in 2013, while becoming the school’s third Pac-12 individual medalist the same season … played in 48 stroke-play events and 147 rounds during his four seasons at Cal from 2009-13, taking 10,541 shots and posting an average of 71.71 strokes per round … the only Cal player to play in all 40 events and 123 rounds of stroke play the team participated in from the beginning of the 2010-11 season to the end of the 2012-13 campaign … also played in all four match-play events and 11 matches possible during the period and posted a 7-4 record … fired the lowest round of his collegiate career when he broke a course record in the first round of 2013 Pac-12 Championship with a nine-under par 61 on the opening 18 holes on his way to Pac-12 individual medalist honors … previous top career finish came when he tied for individual medalist honors at John A. Burns Intercollegiate during the 2010-11 season before he was defeated on the second hole of a three-way playoff … was also second or tied for second a total of six times … posted outright second-place finishes at MacKenzie Invitational in 2011-12 and John A. 2012-13 (AS A SENIOR): A first-team (PING Division I) and second-team (Golfweek) All-American, as well as a PING Division I All-West Region and first-team All-Pac-12 selection who became Cal’s first NCAA individual medalist and third Pac-12 individual medalist, adding the Arnold Palmer Award for his NCAA performance … earned the team’s Coaches Award … was named the Southern Golf Association’s National Amateur of the Month in May … picked up Pac-12 Player of the Month honors for the second and third times in his career in September of 2012 and April of 2013 … on the watch list for The Ben Hogan Award … ranked No. 17 on the final Palmer Cup Ranking … one of the team’s tri-captains along with Brandon Hagy and Michael Weaver … ranked No. 10 nationally by Golfstat and No. 13 according to Golfweek in their final rankings … equaled the best round ever shot by a Cal player with a second-round five-under par 65 in his victory at NCAA Championship (70-65-66 – 201, -9) in which he posted his lowest 54-hole total of the season … had a 1-1 match-play record at the NCAA Championship, defeating Arizona State’s Trey Ka’ahanui (3 & 2) and falling to Thomas Pieters (20 holes) … his opening-round nine-under par 61 in his win at Pac-12 Championship (61-70-71-69 – 271, -9) broke the course record at the North Course at Los Angeles Country Club and tied for the lowest round of the season posted in the country … posted a stroke average of 70.56 that was the second-best on the team on 3,034 shots over 14 stroke-play events and 43 rounds … one of two players along with Michael Kim to compete in each of the team’s 14 stroke-play events and 43 rounds, as well as its lone match-play event … had six top-five finishes and eight in the top 10 … in addition to his victory at the NCAA’s and Pac-12’s was second at John A. Burns Intercollegiate (71-68-73 – 212, -4) and tied for second three times at Gopher Invitational (67-70-77 – 214, -2), PING/Golfweek Preview (71-70-69 – 210, E) and Western Intercollegiate (67-73-66 – 206, -4) … made a 10-foot birdie putt on the 54th and final hole of PING/Golfweek Preview to give Cal a share of the lead with Georgia Tech in the team standings … tied for seventh at Alister MacKenzie Invitational (67-70-68 – 205, -8) and Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters (72-72-73 – 217, +1) … tied for 11th at NCAA Pullman Regional (70-73-68 – 211, -5) with the team’s lowest score in the final round … tied for 14th at Pac-12 Preview (72-67-73 – 212, -4) … tied for 22nd at Fresno State Lexus Classic (73-73-69 – 206, -1) … tied for 33rd at ASU Thunderbird Invitational (73-70-74 – 217, +4) … tied for 37th at Isleworth Collegiate Invitational (78-76-72 – 226, +10) … had a 69.97 rating according to Golfweek and an overall record against individual opponents of 971-190-36, including winning marks against players ranked in the nation’s top 25 (68-43-8), top 50 (130-65-10) and top 100 (224-89-17).… had the team’s lowest score outright at NCAA Championship and Pac-12 Championship, while tying for the lowest score on three other occasions (Gopher Invitational, PING/Golfweek Preview, Western Intercollegiate) … a guest blogger for Golfweek throughout the 2012-13 campaign.

2011-12 (AS A JUNIOR): Earned third-team PING Division I All-American honors and was also one of three Cal players to pick up second-team All-Pac-12 and PING Division I All-West Region recognition along with Brandon Hagy and Michael Kim, with the trio also sharing team MVP honors … became the first player in Cal history to finish in the top 10 at both NCAA Championship (76-70-68 – 214, +1) and an NCAA Regional (71-68-67 – 206, -4), tying for ninth at the national event and tying for 10th at NCAA Stanford Regional as his scores dropped during each round in each event with his final NCAA Championship round tied for the third-best round of the final day of stroke play … one of the team’s tri-captains along with Hagy and Michael Weaver … one of only two players along with Hagy to participate in all 12 of the team’s stroke-play events, each of its 37 stroke-play rounds and all three match-play events … led the team with a 71.19 stroke average, taking 2,634 shots over 37 stroke-play rounds that were eight less than taken by both Hagy and Kim (71.41) … had a 6-3 match-play record to tie a team-high for victories, going 3-1 at Callaway Collegiate Match Play Championship, 2-1 at Del Walker Match Play Championship and 1-1 at NCAA Championship, with the latter including a 2 & 1 victory over Alabama’s Justin Thomas, winner of the Jack Nicklaus Award as the top player in college golf and the Phil Mickleson Award as the top freshman in the sport … had Cal’s best score in a team-high five stroke-play events (Golfweek Conference Challenge, Alister MacKenzie Invitational, John A. Burns Intercollegiate, Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters, NCAA Championship) … Cal’s highest ranked player at No. 28 nationally by Golfweek and No. 32 according to Golfstat in its final player rankings of the season … had seven top-10, nine top-20 and 13 top-25 finishes … named the Pac-12 Men’s Golfer of the Month for the first time in his career in February of 2012 (first Cal men's golfer since Eric Mina in April of 2010) based on his performances when he finished second at John A. 2010-11 (AS A SOPHOMORE): A second-team All-Pac-10 selection and PING Division I All-West Region choice … posted the team’s second-lowest stroke average with a 72.19 mark, taking 3,104 shots over 43 rounds as one of only two players along with Eric Mina to play in all 14 events … earned the team’s Most Improved Player honors by lowering his stroke average 1.52 shots per round from his 2009-10 rookie campaign … reached as high as No. 11 in the Golfstat rankings and No. 12 according to Golfweek before finishing the season No. 42 by Golfstat and No. 46 according to Golfweek, both second on the team behind Stephen Hale … posted Cal’s best score in an event a team-high-tying four times (Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational, Windon Memorial Classic, John A. Burns Intercollegiate and Western Intercollegiate), sharing the team’s top score with Mina in the latter … shared individual medalist honors for the first time in his collegiate career to lead Cal to a team victory at John A. 2009-10 (AS A FRESHMAN): Competed in eight of 14 events and posted a 73.71 stroke average over 24 rounds … played in seven of the team’s final eight tournaments, including both NCAA San Diego Regional (75-72-77 – 224, +8) and NCAA Championship (79-71-72 – 222, +6), where he finished tied for 28th and tied for 86th, respectively … top finish of the season came at his first spring event and the second collegiate tournament of his career when he tied for 16th overall at USC Collegiate Invitational (75-70-67 – 212, -1), shooting a season-low 67 in the final round … other finishes included tying for 30th at Golfweek Conference Challenge (75-78-69 – 222, +6) in his lone fall event, tying for 32nd at National Invitational Tournament (78-73-70 – 221, +5) and tying for 38th at U.S. Intercollegiate (69-75-72 – 216, +6).

Qualified for the U.S. Open by emerging from a three-player playoff for the final two spots in the U.S. Open from a sectional qualifier played at Big Canyon Country Club & New Newport Beach Country Club after tying for fourth place after 36 holes of qualifying action (66-72 – 138, -5) and will compete in the event as an amateur.
