BERKELEY - The California Golden Bear field hockey team (3-6, 0-2 NorPac) suffered another defeat on Sunday, falling to the UC Davis Aggies (6-6, 2-0 NorPac), 3-1. Sophomore midfielder Caroline Struijk scored the lone goal for the Bears on the afternoon.

The Golden Bears had trouble getting much going on the afternoon. They were outshot by Davis 15-4. Of the 15 shots, eight of them found their way to sophomore goalie Courtney Hendrickson, who was able to save five of them. Cal had only one other shot on goal other than Struijk's tally.

Davis got on the board twice in the first half. Sophia Lisaius and Megan Reardon were both able to find the back of the cage late in the half to give the Aggies a first half 2-0 lead. The Aggies pushed the lead to 3-0 halfway through the second half when Marissa Hughes netted her own goal.

Struijk was able to cut the lead to 3-1 when a broken penalty corner play saw sophomore midfielder Lara Kruggel give the ball to Struijk shot it in from about eight yards out on the right side.

The Golden Bears will try to right the ship on Wednesday, Oct. 5 when they travel to University Park, Pa. to take on the Robert Morris Colonials at 5 p.m.
