Final Stats

BERKELEY - The California women's lacrosse team's offense was clicking on all cylinders as the Golden Bears handled Stetson, 19-2, Monday afternoon at Memorial Stadium. The Bears improved to 6-4 on the season.

Cal took a stranglehold on the game early, and as a result, was able to let a lot of players come off the bench and get some playing time. The Bears finished with 37 shots to four for Stetson (0-11).

"Our offense looked really crisp," head coach Ginger Miles said. "We did a really good job of moving the ball around and staying sharp on attack. We got a lot of goal scorers involved."

Sasha Anielski led Cal in goals with three. Lizz Lavie led Cal in scoring with six points after she posted five assists. She surpassed Melissa Humphrey for the team lead in helpers, now with 18 to Humphrey's 17.

Humphrey secured two assists herself and now has 62 for her career, just one shy of second. Colleen O'Mara (2001-04) is first with 83.

With her two goals, Megan Takacs moved into a tie for second on Cal's all-time career goals list with 125. Laura Cavallo (2004-07) is the current all-time leader with 145. Takacs also collected six draw controls.

Takacs and Anielski were two of six Bears to score more than once. Alexa Rozelle, Paige Gasparino, Gaby Christman and Molly Coates were the other Bears to tally more than one goal on the day.

Ana Cyr, Brittany Ward, Nicole Beck and Brynn Gasparino each scored one goal on the day.

Goalkeepers Megan McGinnis and Helen Hansen split time in goal. McGinnis recorded one save.

"This was a great team win," Miles said. "We got a lot of people involved today. I was really excited to see some of our kids who don't get to play a lot. We were able to give them an opportunity to shine on the field."

The Bears hit the road again once more, this time for three straight road MPSF games. First up is Oregon on Sunday, April 7, at noon from Eugene.
