Farmville, Va. -The University of California women's field hockey team (8-12) defeated the Davidson Wildcats (9-13) in the consolation game of the NorPac tournament, 6-1. The game officially concludes Cal's 2012 season, and earns them a third place finish in the tournament. Senior forward Rachelle Comeau added another two assists in the game, and was selected to the All-Tournament team shortly after. She scored three goals and earned three assists in the tournament, including two assists in the consolation game. The full All-Tournament team is listed below.

After being handed a tough defeat in the semifinal game against Stanford, Cal came out of the gate with something to prove. Ten minutes into the game, senior midfielder Kendra Bills scored her third goal of the season from a Comeau pass. Then, later in the period, sophomore midfielder Lara Kruggel converted a penalty stroke, and the Bears took the 2-0 lead into the half.

The Golden Bears didn't let off the pressure after the break. Just five minutes into the period, sophomore midfielder Caroline Strujik scored her seventh goal of the season off of a rebound. Ten minutes later, Kruggel scored her second goal and team leading 18th goal of the season off a junior midfielder Shannon Elmitt pass. Elmitt assisted again on the fifth Golden Bear goal of the day when she found junior forward Jordan O'Reilly open at the left side of the cage. Finally, the Golden Bears capped their scoring when Comeau found senior forward Claire Dougherty open for her fifth goal of the season. Davidson converted a penalty stroke late in the match to push the final to 6-1.

Kruggel is 5th in the Golden Bear record book with 18 goals and 44 points in a single season. She also now has 26 for her career, tying her for 8th place all-time with Melissa Nerone and head coach Shellie Onstead. Also in the record books for the Bears this year, Deanna Kennedy is now the all-time career assist leader with 38 and Elmitt, with 27 assists, is nipping at her heels and seventh on the list.
