Wildcat Diving Invitational Results

TUCSON, Ariz. - One of the top platform divers in the nation, Kahley Rowell captured the platform title at the Wildcat Diving Invitational on Sunday on the campus of the University of Arizona. The California junior - who earned All-America honors on the platform in the Golden Bears' NCAA championship run last season - posted a score of 287.75 to defeat the second-place finisher by more than 37 points at Hillenbrand Aquatic Center.

Stanford's Lillian Hinrichs took second in the platform with a score of 250.05.

Rowell, a product of Dove Canyon, Calif., clinched the victory with her last dive - a back two and half somersault in the tuck position that garnered a score of 61.50. Cal freshman Anne Kastler finished 10th on the platform with a score of 202.80.

In the one-meter springboard competition one day earlier, Kastler recorded Cal's best finish. The Bethesda, Md., native took sixth place in the consolation final with a score of 241.35. In the preliminary round, Kastler posted a score of 250.25 to place 10th, with Rowell placing 21st with a score of 222.10.

On Nov. 16, the first day of the meet, Rowell placed 24th (225.05) and Kastler took 26th (222.30) in the prelim of the three-meter springboard.

The Cal divers return to action in the New Year, when they take part in the Bruin Diving Invitational slated for Jan. 11-13 at UCLA's Spieker Aquatics Center in Los Angeles.
