LOS ANGELES - Breda Vosters scored two goals apiece but No. 4 UCLA pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 10-7 victory over No. 5 Cal in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation action Saturday afternoon.
Csikos moved into sole possession of second place on Cal's all-time list with 201 goals. She is just the second player in school history to score 200 career goals.
The teams took turns alternating goals throughout the first half. After the score was tied 1-1 at the end of the first quarter, the Bears (12-4, 0-2 MPSF) took their first lead of the match on a goal by sophomore Tiera Schroeder. After the Bruins (17-3, 1-1) tied it up, Cal went in front again 3-2 after a score from Dana Ochsner. UCLA knotted the score once again, but the Bears assumed another lead on a Vosters goal to make it 4-3.
The Bruins scored the final two goals of the second quarter to take a 5-4 lead into halftime.
The Bears tied things back up at 5-5 midway through the third quarter on a goal by Ashley Young, but UCLA once again scored two in a row to establish a 7-5 advantage. Csikos scored with three seconds left in the period to slice the deficit to 7-6.
The Bruins gave themselves some breathing room with two goals early in the fourth quarter. The Bears cut it to 9-7 but could not get any closer.
Goalie Savanna Smith had four saves for the Bears.
Cal will next be in action next Saturday against No. 3 Arizona State. The match begins at noon and will air on the Pac-12 Networks.
