The former Cal All-American is a volunteer assistant coach for the 2015-16 season.
Spring 2015: Capped a wonderful career by teaming with Klara Fabikova to reach the NCAA Doubles Championship final…the Bears lost that match to Alabama’s top-seeded defending champions, Erin Routliffe and Maya Jansen, 6-2, 6-7(5), 6-3, but they earned All-America honors for being seeded Nos. 5-8…Susanyi also claimed singles All-America status for reaching the NCAA singles round of 16, in which she lost to Stanford’s second-seeded/ranked Carol Zhao, 6-2, 6-0… Susanyi ends her career as a five-time All-American…garnered All-Pac-12 honorable mention…in Pac-12 singles, she reached the round of 16, but her 10-match winning streak was snapped with a loss to USC’s 45th-ranked Zoë Scandalis, 6-3, 6-4…posted a big win in the round of 32, upsetting Mississippi’s 10th-ranked Julia Jones, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4…in Cal’s 4-3 upset loss to Stanford in the NCAA team tournament’s round of 16 – which was her last dual match – Susanyi defeated Krista Hardebeck for the seventh consecutive time, 6-1, 6-1…finished her final season with a 37-11 singles record and 41-10 doubles record…her singles mark included a 13-3 record at court three, 9-1 record at court four, 9-1 Pac-12 record, 22-4 dual-match record and 15-7 tournament record…Susanyi and Fabikova finished with a 36-8 doubles record, including 19-5 in dual matches and 17-3 in tournaments…collected the sixth Pac-12 Player of the Week honor of her career…the Szeged, Hungary, native ended her career with a 132-34 singles record and 100-28 doubles record.
Fall 2014: Compiled a 7-4 fall record...the Cal veteran reached the quarterfinals of the USTA/ITA Northwest Regional Championships, the round of 16 in the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships and the round of 32 in the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships...in doubles, she was 11-3...Susanyi started out the season paired with Lynn Chi, and the two posted a 5-2 mark that included a run to the Cal Nike Fall Invitational’s top-flight final, in which the pair lost to teammates Maegan Manasse and Denise Starr, 8-4...Chi and Susanyi also reached the quarterfinals of the All-American...Susanyi later paired with Klara Fabikova to beat younger teammates Manasse and Starr in the regional final, 6-1, 6-4, at Stanford...Susanyi/Fabikova earlier posted an impressive win over Stanford’s Carol Zhao and Taylor Davidson, 7-5, 6-1, 1-0(2), in the regional semifinals.
Spring 2014: Wound up with a No. 21 final ITA singles ranking after compiling a 26-10 singles record...earned a spot on the All-Pac-12 second team...played mostly at No. 2 singles (6-1 record) and No. 3 singles (5-2)...fell in the NCAA singles round of 32 to Georgia State’s then-22nd-ranked Abigail Tere-Apisah, 7-6(3), 6-1...Susanyi upset Texas A&M’s 10th-ranked Cristina Stancu, 6-0, 6-4, in the NCAA singles round of 64...played sparingly in doubles, notching a 13-3 overall record (including 6-2 with Klara Fabikova) on the season... Susanyi and Fabikova defeated the Cardinal’s Caroline Doyle/Amelia Herring, 8-4, to help Cal win the doubles point in its NCAA round of 16 loss to Stanford in Atlanta...Susanyi also put together a 7-1 doubles record with Denise Starr.
Fall 2013: The junior entered the year ranked No. 4 in the ITA preseason singles poll and along with Klara Fabikova earned a No. 25 doubles preseason ranking...got off to a good start by winning the Cal Nike Invitational Blue Singles crown, beating fifth-ranked teammate Anett Schutting in the final, 6-1, 6-1, 44th-ranked teammate Lynn Chi in the semifinals, 6-4, and 22nd-ranked Jenny Jullien of Saint Mary’s, 7-6(5), 7-5, in the quarterfinals...she followed that with a run to the round of 16 at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships, in which she beat Florida’s 16th-ranked Sofie Oyen, 6-3, 6-4, in the round of 32...in the USTA/ITA Northwest Regional Championships, she posted four singles wins – including a 2-6, 7-5, 6-1 victory over Stanford’s 73rd-ranked Ellen Tsay in the round of 16 – to reach the semifinals...competed in singles in the USTA/ITA National Indoor National Championships to close out the fall...paired with Fabikova to win the Blue Doubles championship at the Cal Nike Invitational, capping the run with an 8-6 victory over 11th-ranked teammates Schutting and Chi in the final...after playing in the All-American with Fabikova, partnered with teammate Denise Starr to reach the semifinal of the USTA/ITA Northwest Regional Championships.
Spring 2013: Played in the NCAA singles tournament as the No. 5 seed, falling in the round of 16 to Clemson's Yana Koroleva, 7-5, 7-6(6), but earning ITA All-America singles honors...finished her second spring at Cal with a final ITA singles ranking of ninth, a 28-5 singles record and a 16-7 doubles record... partnered with Klara Fabikova to post a 14-5 doubles record and earn an ITA ranking of No. 42 to end the season.
Fall 2012: Compiled an 11-3 singles record and a 3-1 doubles record...fell in the singles semifinals of the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships...reached the singles quarterfinals of the USTA/ITA Northwest Regional Championships...beat teammate Anett Schutting to win the Gold Flight singles title at the Cal Nike Invitational...in doubles paired with Schutting to reach the semifinals of the USTA/ITA Northwest Regional Championships, falling to teammates Tayler Davis and Annie Goransson.
Spring 2012: Received her first collegiate singles ranking at No. 13 in the ITA poll...earned a 41-8 overall ranking with a record of 19-4 in the singles and 13-1 in the doubles...named Pac-12 Player of the Week twice - Feb. 14 and April 2...won 10-consecutive dual-match victories playing No. 1 and 2 in the month of March and April...reached the Pac-12 championship quarterfinal in both the singles and doubles with partner Jana Juricova...advanced to the semifinal on her first NCAA tournament while also reaching the quarterfinal in the NCAA doubles with Juricova...finished her freshman season at No. 15 in the doubles ITA poll.
Fall 2011: Tied for team lead with 13 singles wins in her first tournament season...advanced to the Cal Nike Invitational singles semifinal before falling to Tayler Davis in her first tournament...appeared in the USTA/ITA Northwest Regional singles round of 16...won the ASU Thunderbird Invitational singles crown by defeating Davis...logged seven doubles wins with different partners...advanced to the USTA/ITA Northwest Regional doubles semifinal with Jana Juricova.
Personal/Previous: Interdisciplinary studies major...Zsofia Susanyi was born in Szeged, Hungary...parents are Tamas Susanyi and Agnes Patkos...named 2010-11 Good Student-Athlete at Teleki Blanka HS...advanced to the singles quarterfinals at 2009 Junior Wimbledon...led the Abris Club team to the Hungarian National Team Championship final in 2011, and semifinals in 2010.
